Combating stress the natural way

Statistics claim 30 % of Canadians are regularly relying on the use of anti depressant medication.
This is not HUGE, but there are millions of people who COULD be using but for reasons such as financial, religious or personal choice, are relying on other methods to ease the feeling of stress,anxiety and depression.


Mental health is such an interesting topic and could be dissected into a million bits so lets stick with the issue of combating these above feelings with organic materials and ingredients as opposed to non organic medication. ( prescription drugs)


A few simple steps to leading a medication free life are:


SLEEP- Aim for 7 plus hours per night, when possible as I know that life happens and this is not always an option.


EAT BREAKFAST- By skipping your first meal of the day you make it impossible for your blood sugar to maintain a balance, and therefore promoting the storage of FAT.


GO GREEN tea - Opt out of the regular caffeine as it is a false "upper" followed by the usual "crash". Green tea is a great decaffeinated option high in anti oxidants.


SPARKLING WATER over your soda- If you are a soda drinker you are likely experiencing similar ups and downs as that of a coffee drinker- shift towards sparkling water and keep the fizz and lose the crap.


SNACK throughout the day to maintain a stable insulin level and keep your metabolism up and active.
You should be eating between 150-250 calories every 3 hours ( this number will vary depending on your height weight and goals)


FROM THE GROUND- If it was grown in the ground or ate from it...... you are on the right path!! anything in a package is generally packed with all the added extras .... THESE are NOT the extras you want, these are saturated fats, sodium, sugars and much more.


SAY TO NO DRUGS!!!This includes alcohol,sad to say.... but true!!! IT'S a depressant..... listen to this word...D-E-P-R-E-S-S-A-N-T!!! *Need I say more????*


The same guidelines used for an all over healthy lifestyle are going to be used to combat / prevent anxiety and depression, eat clean, drink water, stay active, laugh sleep and repeat:)
