Yes because we are taught to always tell the truth, from childhood to adulthood. The fear of KARMA creeps in when I think of NOT telling the truth. The thought of hurting feelings of someone I care about comes into play as well. This concern is on both ends of the answer though.... sometimes telling the truth hurts feelings, but then lying hurts too.
Is it the same to bold face lie about something or fudge the truth a bit with a white lie???
Okay, how would you feel if YOU were lied to? About anything? "I will call you" "I didn't borrow your necklace" "I didn't say that to him/her" the list of possible daily lies goes on and on...... which now that i WRITE it... is kind of sad and depressing.
People lie everyday, all day.
Why??
A force of habit, that they don't even realize they are doing, or a deliberate thought and action?
If it is deliberate, is it to 'hurt' or save someone from being hurt.
And if it IS saving someone from being hurt, at the point in which they find out the TRUTH ( and this point WILL happen), will it hurt them more???
GAhhhhh this question is a toughie....
I think that YES 9 times out of 10 in fact the truth is the best route.... sometimes it may have consequences that we aren't fond of..... but you have to remember WHY you were truthful in the start. You were either looking out for YOUR best interest of the best interest of someone else... and THIS is important.
Sometimes when the truth is maybe a but hurtful, you just need to take care with the words you chose to use... play with them, be gentle and be sympathetic.
Always remember that if YOU were on the other side of this, would it better you to know??? If it honestly wont better anyone and just hurt, them maybe this is the 1 out of 10 times that you keep quiet.
Karma is fierce remember and she will work it out if you mess around....
