Do you ever feel like its never going to end... like nothing will be ' good enough' like no matter how much thought and effort you put in, nothing seems to happen or change?? Maybe its time for a break
Do you stare so long at the computer screen you feel like your eye balls are burning, do you type and type and write and write yet no real words come out, do you run and run and train and train and still not getting the results you desire??Maybe its time for a break
Do you constantly do for others, and get minimal if any recognition? Do you wake up extra early to get the last of the chores done, or pack the family lunches and fail to hear a thank you??Maybe its time for a break.
Breaks are so important, its like the rest phase of your workout, its the savasana in your yoga practice. Its where you reap the benefit of your work. Your body will find a way of telling you it needs a break in many different ways. Maybe you feel much more emotional than usual, or dead tired, or low energy. Maybe you are losing your temper quicker, or maybe you have no desire to DO anything more....
We often....OK we always find excuses not to do things. Not just the crappy nagging things, but we will find excuses not to do almost anything....ESPECIALLY taking breaks.
"No, I can't take a break, I don't have time for a break, nothing will get done if I take a break, I can't afford to take a break........"
I've heard it all before and Ive said it all before..... well THIS JUST IN!!!!
Your wasting this so called 'time' by making excuses, by half assing whatever you are doing and hating, you aren't working to your full ability and you are losing the passion and dedication to your cause but pushing through your rest time.
Take a break, a 5 minute, 15 minute, day off, week off......just take it.
If its realistic, send the kids with grandma and get away... find somewhere that even for just one night allows you to relax and rejuvenate yourself.
I promise you that you will come back to whatever life has for you, with a higher appreciation and a clearer mind.
If its only a 5 minute break, take that time to get away from what you are involved in, turn noises off and close your eyes and just breath. INHALE....... hold....EXHALE......separate yourself from the world that stresses you, come back to YOU.
I am writing about breaks because I am lucky enough to be taking one this weekend with my guy. We are heading over to Salt Spring Island with recommendations from a friend....the phones will be off and reality will not exist other than the reality we make for ourselves. Calm relaxing and stress free.
So when life gets ahead of you, in ANY form....training, work, love, school..... just take what you can and take a break.
BREATH
