Taking on new challenges

We must look for the opportunity in every difficulty instead of being paralyzed at the thought of the difficulty in every opportunity~

Life is about challenges, we face tens if not hundreds everyday.
Do you stop for a coffee on your way to work? How do you ask the pretty girl out in your class? Double booked yourself?? How can you save your relationship? Struggling through the hardest workout of your life.....They come in all different forms, and its YOUR opportunity to overcome them.

We all too often panic at the thought of obstacle or problem. We are so afraid of challenge, and so quick to solve it with an excuse......

Here's my thought.......
STOP RUNNING AND TAKE THE CHALLENGE

I have personally taken on a new challenge, and for ME, it's a big challenge.
I have agreed to compete in a triathlon. This will be my FIRST triathlon, and potentially first of many.

Here's why this is such a challenge for me..... You see, I do not swim well, and i bike even worse.
I am terrified of other cyclists as well as vehicles on the streets, and so the only biking I do is stationary.

On the same note, I can swim........ to save my life, and maybe snorkel and float in the Caribbean. :)

My friend and past client is a competitive synchronized swimmer and has taken on the job of teaching me proper swimming techniques, which I now after my first lesson realize there are A LOT of.

I knew going into this that there was going to be struggles, and that I wasn't going to be immediately good at any of it and therefore needed to be sure my ego had left the building.
Sunday was my first lesson in the lap pool and I'm pretty sure within 10 minutes I was gripping to the side of the pool wondering how the hell someone could ingest this much chlorinated water at one time and meditating to slow my heart rate back down.

THIS IS MY NEW WORKOUT! MY NEW CHALLENGE!! AND MY NEW ACCOMPLISHMENT!!

I promise you there will be days where I want to gently place my coach's head under the water and walk away.... but i promise to push on and win this challenge.......

Stay tuned

.............Accept the challenges so that you may feel the exhilaration of victory............

  1. Good thing your coach can hold her breath for a very long time :-) You are doing great and showing up is by far the hardest part.
