Staying on track when you just want to jump off

Summer has arrived, and whether you are heading away for some R & R or taking a few days off work to stick around and really do 'nothing' or maybe your just doing the typical summer thing of BBQ and beach time...... You will be tempted to fall off track and Id like to help you avoid the ever popular
SUMMER SLACK

I am the first to agree that the thought of  being stuck indoors on a hot summer day is on par with yanking my teeth out!!! I am also the first to remind you that your ability to get a great workout in is NOT reliant on a GYM, and thus being 'stuck indoors'.

This alone isn't enough to keep you on track through the summer months, I know....... I just hope that I can offer you some quick and easy ideas to keep your weight loss or maintenance progress headed in the right direction.

The usual tempters are the BBQ's, the camping trips, the beach days, the road trips and the list really just goes on and on.......THIS IS FINE!!!! There is NO reason that you should have to stop any of these activities.... Lets be honest, we wait 10 months each year for the opportunity to  do them.
All we have to do is make choices!
Make a decision and stick to it! Be true to YOURSELF, what are you goals? (YES THOSE DARN GOALS AGAIN.... I likely will not stop mentioning them for the record ;)
If you are on a weight LOSS program, you will have to think ahead just a bit more than normal when it comes to BBQ's or camping trips. If it means you have to pack along a chicken breast instead of a beef burger, SO WHAT?? If it means you have a whole wheat bun instead of a white one, or maybe even you opt for NO BUN....WHO CARES!!!!
if it means you have more GREENS than macaroni salad...............
WHO CARES!!!! These are such simple choices, and will do nothing but allow your progress to continue rather than slowing you down or even stopping the progress all together.

Drinking alcohol is also a very common summer pastime...... Your best choice ( at all times, not just for the summer months) is to simply avoid it. However, we are human and we DO enjoy a nice cold one here and there.
There are lower calorie choices when it comes to your choice drink for your BBQ, such as Mike's 'LIGHT' hard lemonade, light beer, using water as a mix ( vodka water with fresh berries for flavor). Also alternating water with each drink will not only keep your tummy fuller, it will keep you hydrated and less likely to suffer the next morning.

Really all it comes to is making the right choice for YOU and YOUR personal goal. You may chose to use the weekend BBQ party as your 'cheat day' and feed yourself through the week with high density nutrient full whole foods, in preparation for a bit of a indulgence on Saturday afternoon.
If you know you are going to be indulging a bit, be sure to include a workout in your day, preferably BEFORE your event.
If it's a quick 20 minute session, make it a HIIT full body session.
You can do it on your lunch break, first thing in the morning, waiting for your kids after school or in the living room while watching Dr. Phil.......all you need is your body.
*For HIIT ideas, message me at kylagagnon@yahoo.ca and I will be happy to share some basic ideas or set you up on an in home program to allow your goals to be reached through the summer.

These simple guidelines work just as well through the rest of the year on vacation.....NO EXCUSES!!!

I just came home from a Vegas vacation with a bunch of girlfriends, and I didnt allow myself to fall off track.
Some may ask "WHY??? your in VEGAS..... let it go!!!"

My answer to you....
"Why the hell not?? Why would i stop? I have success because I work hard, on or off vacation, and I feel GREAT because of it!!!"
Taking 45 minutes out of my morning sure didn't get in the way of anything, and really only put me in a better mood and allowed me to get through my busy days and nights in the city that never sleeps!!!

Exercise does NOTHING but better your life, so why stop??
