Ok, I am going to be a little bit stern, and I don't want to come across mad, or mean or un thoughtful or un aware of the difficulties.......
The Topic at hand is : I am working out regularly and "eating good" why havent I lost any weight?
I hear this literally almost every day, and with almost every complaint, in time comes the truth....
Today for instance, I had two of my favorite clients, both have had GREAT results in the last few months, have felt that they have plataued yet have been " eating good still" :)
Within 2 days of each other, they came to me with the truth...."Kyla, I have been so bad lately.... I havent been focused, I havent been giving myself the time to plan etc..."
I give these ladies big credit, A, for confronting me about the truth and allowing me to help, and B, for not allowing it to get out of hand and going longer than the few weeks.
As a trainer, I know the importance of the training at a high intensity to see results, but I also know, and hope that you listen when I say it....
NUTRITION is 80-90% of your success.
You have made the choice to get active and healthy, but please do NOT forget that healthy, means proper nutrition.
This also means that you put yourself FIRST sometimes.
Mom's out there, Im talking to YOU.
I do not yet have children of my own but I have many clients who do and I hear the stories, and I know its hard.
I am not lying when I say 20 minutes.....
I PROMISE you can find 20 minutes to prepare your food for tomorrow.
If you dont, you can bank on failure.
It sounds bad, it is bad, but its reality.
On the road and feeling hungry?? It only takes a few minutes to hit up the drive through, or to grab a gas station snack right??!!
I know I dont have to get into details as to WHY those options are NOT GOOD!!! so avoid it by preparing your own meals.
There has to come a point in your journey of health, hopefully at the very beginning, but a moment where you chose to be important.
This journey belongs to nobody but YOU, and you are in charge.
This can go a variety of directions depending on your choices.
Don't over think!!! Keep it simple, it IS simple and it IS enjoyable.....
Avoid anything in a wrapper!!
Avoid sugary beverages!!
Avoid cafe snacks (yes even Starbucks.... coffee yes... treats no!)
Enjoy chopped vegetables with light dip
Enjoy all fruits
Enjoy all natural food energy bars (Elevate Me, LARA BAR)
Enjoy My energy balls ( see my FB page or email me for recipe)
Enjoy water ( some light flavoring is ok, try natural real fruit infused water)
Be honest with every aspect of your goals, your slip ups, your accountablilty, your meal planning, your work outs and the intensity and consistency of it all.
If you lie to other people enough about what you are ( or aren't) doing, you will begin to believe it to be true yourself and then we really have to start all over again.
It's ok to slip up, own it, understand it for what it is and move on to the next.
What happens usually is after a slip up, your will power is damaged and so is your confidence, and the one slip is followed by a whole day and sometimes many days to follow.
Take the power back out of this situation and just simply... Start again:)
Bottom line, if your ACTUALLY eating right you will know it, and if your cheating you WILL KNOW IT!!! And with time, I WILL KNOW IT TOO, whether you tell me or not.
Results don't lie, so please dont do it either, not to me and not to yourself!!!
~Ky
