Balancing Act~

Its all an act of balancing .... everything!
What shoes can I wear with this sweater.... If my pants are blue, should I have blue somewhere else???
Ive spent the last 2 weekends with this friend, I should probably see that friend....I worked Biceps yesterday, I should probably work triceps today..... I had a blizzard today, i should proooobaaaabably have some greens tonight.....and so everything is about balance.

My days are always different, with different schedules, different clients, different yoga instructors, different challenges, different accomplishments.... my nights however are generally ..... exactly the same.

I premake all my next day meals.... seems normal enough, I know a lot of people who do the same. It wasn't until I caught myself planning aloud that I realized how much overthinking and planning goes into this process.
I had a 6 am client and needed to be at the airport to pick up the mister at 735 and then yoga at 9... Now, I am programmed to be hungry first thing in the am... so I knew id wanna eat pre client.... I don't like going in to yoga hungry.. but i also don't like eating JUST before class..... hmmm 3 hour space between client and yoga... also the perfect amount of time between meals right??!!
uhhhhh what to do what to do......Without going into all supremely boring bits of my life, I'll say that yes i sorted it out , but it literally was an 'issue'....
I layed in bed, thinking about how many of us go through that same conversation in our heads and how many other people think we're crazy.
But lets think about who we are for a minute....
We set our alarms for crazy early hours.... we nourish our bodies with high quality foods to energize us for the ass kicking in the gym, we avoid the 'fun' stuff like deserts, martinis, fries and pizza.... but because of this, we have a physique that ( i hope we are all happy with) we have energy that lasts us all day, we have a 'healthy lifestyle' ????????

DO WE???

What IS a healthy lifestyle really???..... its balance.
Sometimes, I think we go too far, too hard, too intense, too healthy... we lose the balance.

It  took me almost 2 years after my first fitness competition to wrap my head around the idea that having an unhealthy enjoyable meal was OK. That having cheese on my salad was OK, that giving into my cravings once in a while was absolutely positively OK!!!

Our bodies work well on the 'shock value' system. Feed it fabulous nourishing healthy foods 80-90% of the time and that 10% of enjoyment will give your body a bit of a bump and shock and NOTHING BAD WILL HAPPEN!!!! The world will not end, and you will still look and feel wonderful!!!!!! BALANCE

Yes I still struggle, I think we all do, but keep reminding yourself that every once in a while... after what may seem like endless salads..... (which for the record can taste ridiculously great)

You can happily indulge in your cravings....

Give yourself a break, you work hard, you train hard, you live life the best you can..... please for the love of God, have a cupcake once in a while......
